In Azerbaijan, 380,704 farmers received 362.5 million manats ($213.2 million) in subsidies in 2024, while 387,340 farmers received 352 million manats ($207.1 million) in subsidies in 2023, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said at the 4th Agribusiness Development Forum held in Baku, Report informs.
Mammadov emphasized that state support for the agricultural sector covers not only subsidies, but also preferential financing, provision of equipment and breeding livestock.
"In 2023, 83.9 million manats ($49.4 million) were allocated on preferential terms for the purchase of 6,477 units of equipment, and in 2024, 80.8 million manats ($47.5 million) for 9,107 units of equipment. In addition, 17.4 million manats ($10.2 million) were allocated in 2024 for the purchase of 5,830 heads of breeding cattle on preferential terms. These financial measures are aimed at supporting local production and creating farms that can withstand climate risks," said the minister.
According to him, agriculture remains a strategic area that ensures food security, employment and the country’s export potential.
