Azerbaijan increased Kazakh grain imports 113-fold

May 16, Fineko/abc.az. Kazakhstan is gradually strengthening its position as a large grain exporter at the world market.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan informs that from September to April 2024-2025, the supply of grain and flour in grain equivalent reached almost 10 million tons, showing an impressive increase compared to last season - by 37.4%.

According to Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov, grain supplies to Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey have resumed after a five-year break.

"Shipments of durum wheat to Italy are growing. Today, Kazakhstan is developing exports to such atypical European markets as Belgium, Poland, Portugal, Norway, and the UK. Buyers from Morocco and the UAE are showing interest in our grain," Sultanov said.

For the first time in the last five years, Kazakhstan has restored grain shipments to Iran and Azerbaijan, increasing supplies tenfold.

The volume of grain and flour imports in grain equivalent to Azerbaijan for Sept–Apr 2024/2025 increased from 5,000 to 569,000 tons, or 113-fold against Sept-Apr of last year.
