May 16, Fineko/abc.az. Interest in Islamic banking is growing in the regions of Central Russia, Moscow, the Urals, and Siberia, despite their religious affiliation.

ABC.AZ reports, quoting Sberbank’s managing director Behnam Gurban-Zadeh at the forum "Russia – the Islamic World: KazanForum".

The partnership financing experiment has been running since September 2023 in Bashkiria, Tatarstan, Chechnya and Dagestan. A bill has already been submitted to the State Duma to extend it until 2028.

According to Gurban-Zadeh, it is not only Muslims who are interested in Islamic banking, but also requests from other categories of citizens. He noted that the situation resembles the experience of Malaysia, where more than 70% of the users of partner financing do not profess Islam.
