May 19, Fineko/abc.az. Foreign e-commerce platforms operating in the Turkish market are required to comply with a number of legal requirements in order to protect consumer rights.
ABC.AZ informs that in this context, representatives of the TEMU platform, registered in the People's Republic of China and which began online sales in Turkey in June 2024, were invited to the Ministry of Commerce.
At the meeting, representatives of the Ministry reminded TEMU of their responsibilities under the Rules for Market Surveillance & Supervision of Goods Distributed Remotely, including product safety and consumer complaints. It was noted that according to the new regulations, which entered into force on April 1, 2024, the TEMU platform is obliged to comply with legal requirements and fulfill relevant obligations.
The Ministry stressed the importance of the completeness of the information posted in the sales announcements, the need to remove dangerous and inappropriate products from the platform within 24 hours, as well as maintaining the constant activity of the product safety contact point. It was also stated that the introduction of products to the market without the knowledge of an economic entity is not allowed in Turkey.
