May 19, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey discovered 75 bcm of natural gas worth $30 billion in the Black Sea, ABC.AZ reports, quoting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

During his speech in Istanbul last Saturday, Erdogan said that the discovery was made after 49 days of drilling at the Göktepe 3 field in Sakarya. He added that this will ensure the consumption of Turkish households for 3.5 years.

In 2020, Turkey discovered 320 bcm of natural gas in the largest ever discovery in the Black Sea.

Erdogan said the country would continue exploration "until we achieve the goal of full energy independence".
