May 20, Fineko/abc.az. Chinese photovoltaic company JinkoSolar, one of the world's largest manufacturers of solar panels (modules), will supply modules for a 100 MW solar power plant project in Azerbaijan, ABC.AZ informs referring to the company's statement.

"JinkoSolar officially signed a module supply agreement with HuanTai Energy (Universal Energy) for the 100MW Gobustan solar project in Azerbaijan. The project will fully adopt Jinko’s self-developed N-type TOPCon modules and is expected to become a benchmark for new energy development in the Caucasus region. This partnership highlights the recognition of JinkoSolar’s advanced technology in complex global environments and further strengthens its position as a technology leader in the global PV market.

Located in Gobustan, Azerbaijan, the project faces harsh environmental conditions, including extreme summer temperatures of up to 45°C, strong wind and sand, and high salinity," the company noted.

"JinkoSolar’s N-type TOPCon modules stood out due to their outstanding technical advantages such as higher power output per watt, superior all-weather performance, and greater overall energy yield. With a bifaciality of up to 85%, the modules significantly improve rear-side energy conversion efficiency. This alone can boost overall energy yield by approximately 3.38% - and even more in high-albedo environments."

The investment agreement for the construction of the 100 MW Gobustan solar power plant was signed on April 22, 2025, between the Government of Azerbaijan and Universal Solar Azerbaijan LLC, a subsidiary of China's Universal Energy.

According to the agreement, the Government of Azerbaijan will provide support in areas such as tax incentives, land allocation, connection to the power grid, and will also coordinate interaction with local structures to facilitate the implementation of the project.

Earlier, during the COP29 conference in November 2024, Universal Energy was announced the winner of the international tender for the implementation of this project. The total investment is estimated at approximately $51 million. The plant is expected to be commissioned by mid-2026. Once launched, the Gobustan solar power plant will generate about 180 million kWh of electricity per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 146,500 tons annually.
