May 20, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st quarter of 2025, Azerbaijan imported a total of 287,200 tons of soft wheat.

ABC.AZ informs that this indicator means an increase of 35.5% versus Q1 of 2024.

In value terms, imports were carried out for $61.99 million (29% more year-on-year). For the 2024 same term, imports totaled $48.07 million.

For Q1 of 2024, all wheat imports were carried out only from Russia - 211,900 tons.

And in 2025, Kazakhstan became the main supplier - it shipped 231,400 tons of wheat. Russia exported only 55,800 tons of wheat during this period.

The average price for each ton of soft wheat imported by Azerbaijan for Jan-Mar 2025 was $215.88. This figure makes a drop of 4.8% compared with $226.76 recorded for Jan-Apr 2024.
