May 21, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st quarter of this year, the trend of increasing the level of creditworthiness of the population continued in Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ informs, referring to CBA’s survey on lending issues, that for Jan-Apr 2025, 85% of the surveyed banks reported no changes in the level of creditworthiness of the population, while 15% noted a moderate increase. As a result, the diffusion index for the quarter was 8%. This means that the dynamics of the population's borrowing growth continues.

Over the past three months, credit standards for consumer loans, including credit card loans, have continued to tighten. The tightening of regulations on consumer loans occurred mainly in the form of an increase in the cost of loans and the amount of fees. Respondents predict that standards for the total number of consumer loans, including credit cards, will continue to tighten in the next quarter.

According to the survey results, there was no change in demand for general consumer loans, including credit cards. Banks predict that demand for consumer loans will increase in the next quarter, but demand for credit cards will not change.
