Export of cherry plums from Saatli gardens abroad begins

May 26, Fineko/abc.az. Export sales of products have begun from an intensive orchard of cherry plums of Geija variety, planted in Saatli district. To date, close to 50 tons of crops have been harvested, of which 20 tons have already been shipped abroad.

ABC.AZ infrms that the intensive cherry plum orchard is located in Garalar village of Saatli district, and covers an area of 14 hectares.

The owner of the farm, Habib Ahmadov, said that the garden was laid out in 2019, and only agrotechnical work was carried out during the first four years.:

"11,000 ‘Nakhchivan Geija’ cherry plum trees have been planted in this garden. During the landing, all the standards for the distance between the rows were observed. In the first 4 years, pruning and maintenance were carried out, and the trees were provided with the necessary agrotechnical services. A massive harvest has been underway since last year. Although the main part of the garden is made up of Geija variety trees, other varieties have also been planted for pollination."

In the first year of fruiting, nearly 40 tons of harvest were harvested. 70-80 tons are expected to be harvested this year. The products are sold both in the domestic market and abroad.
