June 10, Fineko/abc.az. A fixed tariff in the electricity sector may be introduced in Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ reports that this is envisaged in the draft amendments to the Law on Electric Power Industry.
The document was discussed at today's meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources, Energy & Ecology.
In international practice, there are cases of using a fixed tariff when regulating tariffs and prices for electricity. The main essence of the fixed tariff is that consumers connected to the network pay a certain amount monthly in the form of fixed expenses.
The fixed tariff does not relate to the volume of consumption, is applied regardless of the consumer category and is used to cover certain costs of the distribution system operator. The draft law defines a fixed tariff as a monthly tariff element applied to each consumer in order to cover part of the fixed costs that do not depend on the level of electricity consumption determined by the regulator.
The document also defines the rights and obligations of the supplier and the consumer in connection with the introduction of the new tariff mechanism.
