General Motors invests $4 bn in its plants in U.S.

June 11, Fineko/abc.az. General Motors will allocate $4 bn to expand the capacity of its plants in the United States over two years.

ABC.AZ informs that investments will help the company increase production of popular gasoline models and adapt to the tariffs of the Donald Trump administration.

GM stated on Tuesday that production of completed vehicles will increase at facilities in Michigan, Arkansas and Tennessee.

Production of key models - the highly profitable pickups Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, as well as Chevrolet Equinox SUV - will be moved from Mexico to the U.S. According to company's representative, this will create 3,000-4,000 jobs.

The combined investments will allow GM to produce more than 2 million vehicles in the U.S. annually and reduce dependence on Mexican factories, said an interlocutor familiar with the plans. Production of the affected models in Mexico will continue, but in smaller volumes.
