September 11, Fineko/abc.az. SOCAR Green, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), plans to implement a pilot hybrid project, Report quotes SOCAR Green Director Elmir Musayev as saying.

He said comprehensive work in this area will lead to significant energy efficiency: “Thanks to energy efficiency, modern equipment, and new technologies, water use efficiency will also improve. For example, using variable frequency pumps will allow water supply to be regulated according to demand, reducing energy consumption and preventing misuse.”

Musayev added that a letter of itent was signed yesterday with the State Agency for Water Resources (ADSEA), which is also part of the agency’s decarbonization initiative: “We plan to implement a pilot hybrid project that will include onshore wind power, floating or stationary solar panels on water, and a battery energy storage system. The agency will act as the recipient of the electricity, directly contributing to the decarbonization of both the agency and our organization. We have already begun the technical review stage and are quite optimistic,” he concluded.
