October 2, Fineko/abc.az. The Brest Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation into the Beninese-flagged Boracay oil tanker. It is suspected of transporting Russian oil.

ABC.AZ informs that French President Emmanuel Macron noted that the crew had committed serious violations requiring judicial intervention, but did not disclose details.

The investigation is being conducted under the article on the failure to provide documents on the nationality of the vessel and ignoring the demands of the authorities, Prosecutor Stefan Kellenberg said. For such violations, up to a year in prison or a fine of 150,000 euros is provided.

The 244-m tanker has been anchored off the coast of Saint-Nazaire for several days. The ship was forced to enter the territorial waters of France, where naval special forces landed on it. Two people were detained – the captain and his first mate.
