ABC.AZ informs that the announcement coincided with growing expectations for a more affordable model, amid declining sales, an outdated model range, and pressure from Chinese automakers.

Although Tesla reported record shipments in the third quarter, experts attribute the increase to the last weeks of tax benefits in the U.S. Now the company will have to maintain demand in an increasingly competitive environment, especially in Europe and China, where BYD is already surpassing Tesla in sales.

Elon Musk emphasizes that Tesla's future growth will be based on autonomous driving, AI and robotics.
