S Korea's Hanwha Ocean to invest $100 million in Polish program Orka

October 9, Fineko/abc.az. Hanwha Ocean, a South Korean submarine manufacturer, plans to invest approx. $100 million in Polish program Orka for acquisition of new submarines.

ABC.AZ informs that in this way, the company plans to support the Polish infrastructure and create more than 1,300 jobs, support local shipyards and establish supply chains. In addition, the Korean shipyard promises to transfer technology for construction of facilities in Poland so that Poles can independently modernize and maintain submarines supplied by Hanwha Ocean.

Orka program in Poland provides training for crews on simulators, at sea and on board for the independent operation of new equipment and weapons. The aim of the initiative is to modernize the Polish Navy with the purchase of 3-4 modern cruise missile submarines replacing Soviet submarines, with the possible participation of companies from France, Germany, Sweden, Italy and South Korea.
