October 9, Fineko/abc.az. One of the main problems of cybersecurity is outdated software.
ABC.AZ informs that Yusif Huseynov, the head of the office of the Main Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, stated that a third of cybercrimes are committed against Internet of Things devices (things connected to the Internet): "According to the statistics of 2024, about 600,000 IoT devices were attacked in the international arena. And this is a record figure. These devices occupy an important place in solving crimes. Along with the positive side, there are also dangers, so it is necessary to take safety measures."
He said that there is a problem of segmentation in the devices installed for security: "Device hijacking, whether at home or in a corporate facility, is also a major problem. In addition, 60% of attacks are due to outdated software. 70% of incidents are related to publicly available passwords or accidental or intentional use of incorrect programs. The technique itself is not dangerous, it all depends on how we use it."
