Turkey increases imports of Russian coal up to a record, prices exceed European levels

October 10, Fineko/abc.az. Demand for Russian thermal coal is growing in Turkey, which has led to an increase in its cost to $94.5 per ton (CFR) - by 3.3% in a week and to the highest since February.)

ABC.AZ reports that cement plants and energy companies remain the main buyers, replenishing stocks before the winter season.

According to the Institute of Energy and Finance, for Jan-Aug, Turkey increased coal imports from Russia by 34% year-on-year, up to 21.3 million tons. In June–August, the indicator grew by 28%, up to 8.3 million tons. Railway shipments from Kuzbass to the port of Taman increased particularly noticeably - by 3.3 times, up to 300,000 tons in September.
