October 16, Fineko/abc.az. Aghali settlement of Zangilan district and neighboring village Mammadbeyli are built on the principle of transit-oriented development.
ABC.AZ reports that Azerbaijani President’s Special Representative in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts, Vahid Hajiyev, made this statement on the second day of the III National Urban Planning Forum of Azerbaijan (NUFA3).
He added that three master plans for development of territories have been approved to date.
Hajiyev recalled that the liberated territories, including Gubadli, Jabrayil and Zangilan, were completely destroyed during the occupation.
"During the 30 years of occupation, not a single house remained there. That's why today we're building everything from scratch. Our concept is based on transit-oriented development - the creation of mixed-use areas around efficient public transport and comfortable pedestrian environment. This approach not only improves the mobility of the population, but also expands employment opportunities, which is also extremely necessary and is carried out in parallel with the resettlement process. For example, the location of these settlements near logistics hubs, railway parks, and industrial zones allows residents to easily reach their workplaces. At the same time, it stimulates growth of local entrepreneurship and gives residents the opportunity to participate in economic activities within their own communities," he added.
