Electricity production in Azerbaijan grew by 0.1% in 9 months

October 17, Fineko/abc.az. From January to September of this year, electricity generation totaled 21.798 bn kWh (a rise of 12.1 million kWh, or 0.1%).

ABC.AZ reports, referring to Energy Ministry’s operational data on country’s energy production and export for the past 9 months of 2025, that thermal power plants (TPPs) generated 18.659 bn kWh, hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) - 2.414 bn kWh, and other sources - 724.8 million kWh, including wind power plants - 30.5 million kWh, solar power plants (SPPs) - 511 million kWh, and the solid waste incineration plant produced 183.3 million kWh of electricity.

Compared with Jan-Sept 2024, 3.139 bn kWh of electricity was produced from renewable energy sources (64.5 million kWh more).

Electricity production for 9 months totaled 19.5 bn kWh on Azerenergi (17.7 bn kWh on TPPs, 2.4 bn kWh on HPPs, 49 million kWh on SPPs, 21.5 million kWh on Azerishig and 2.256 bn kWh on independent power plants).

Electricity imports amounted to 145.4 million kWh, while exports - 989.6 million kWh.
