October 30, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry of Turkey has announced a 30% reduction in fruit and vegetable production in the country this year, ABC.AZ informs, referring to the Turkish Statistical Institute.
In particular, vegetable production is projected to reduce by 0.8% against the previous year, to nearly 33.3 million tons. At that, tomato production will decline by 7.6%, sweet pepper paste by 6.3%, green beans by 8.3%, and onion production will grow by 2.6%.
The production of fruits, beverages and spices is projected to fall by 30.4% compared with the previous year, to approx. 19.8 million tons. At that, the harvest of apples is expected to decrease by 48.3%, peaches by 46.1%, nectarines by 44.1%, cherries by 70.6%, grapes by 24.5%, strawberries by 1.9%.
