November 4, Fineko/abc.az. Recently, most of the Azerbaijani meat market consists of products imported from Mongolia.

However, the population, which is not used to imported meat, is not sure about the quality of Mongolian mutton. People rightly think before buying, as they do not know in what conditions these animals are raised and slaughtered.

One of the factors that makes them hesitate to buy is the cheapness of Mongolian meat. So, if the meat of local mutton costs 20 manats, then Mongolian mutton is sold for 12 manats.

91% of frozen lamb meat imported in Azerbaijan from abroad accounted for Mongolia.

Why is Mongolian mutton so cheap?

ABC.AZ reports that Mongolia has large herds of cattle all over the world. Most of the population is engaged in animal husbandry.

Although there are nearly 3 million people in the country, there are more than 30 million sheep. This amount is too large for domestic demand, so favorable conditions are being created in the market to reduce prices. The animals also feed mainly on open pastures and natural grass, which reduces feed costs.
