Number of Russian wheat buyer states drops sharply

November 6, Fineko/abc.az. Russian grain exports decreased by 20% in October 2025, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Yelena Tyurina, the director of the analytical department of the Russian Grain Union.

According to Turina, at first, in October 2024, Russia sent close to 8 million tons of grain abroad, and now this volume has decreased to 6.454 million tons. At that, wheat exports fell by 14.2% to 6.024 million tons.

The number of Russian wheat purchasing countries has dropped from 50 to 30.

Egypt traditionally remains the largest buyer, but purchases there decreased by 16.3%, to 1.307 million tons.

The 2nd place is occupied by Turkey, which almost doubled imports up to 883,000 tons. Iran’s purchases also grew significantly - by 4.8 times, up to 545,000 tons, in Bangladesh - by 1.7 times, up to 495,000 tons, in Libya - almost 3-fold, up to 290,000 tons, and in Saudi Arabia - 5-fold, up to 153,000 tons.
