Russia and Iran discuss cooperation on Chabahar port and Caspian Sea routes

November 6, Fineko/abc.az. The Iranian side is interested in the participation of Russian companies in development of Chabahar port in the Persian Gulf.

ABC.AZ reports that this was announced by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation following a meeting between Deputy Head of the Ministry Dmitry Zverev and Saed Rasouli, the head of the Organization of Ports and Shipping of Iran.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the meeting sides raised the issues of increasing the transportation along the Caspian Sea and the need to intensify cooperation in development of multimodal transportation along the North-South trans-Caspian route.

"Among the priorities is ensuring uninterrupted cargo delivery to the ports of the Caspian Sea, as well as development of railways and highways on the approaches to the ports. The Iranian side is interested in the participation of Russian companies in development of Chabahar port in the Persian Gulf," Ministry’s statement says.
