Azerbaijan observes growth in production of green tea leaves by 12.3% for 10 months

November 7, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Sept 2025, the production of green tea leaves in Azerbaijan increased by 12.3%.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the State Statistics Committee, 1,119.9 tons of green tea leaves were harvested in the country during this period (122.4 tons more versus the 2024 same term). The harvest in the Lankaran-Astara economic region, recognized as the main part of production, reached 1,078.4 tons (12.7% more than last year's figure of 956.5 tons).

In Astara district, the harvest amounted to 699.1 tons (65.6 tons more than last year - 633.5 tons). And in the Lankaran region, growth is more significant. The production of green tea totaled 353.3 tons (70.1 tons or 24.7% more than year-on-year). In Masalli district, on the contrary, there was a decrease – from 39.8 tons in 2024 to 26 tons.

The harvest in Shaki-Zagatala economic region remained stable at 41.5 tons, with a slight increase compared to last year.

The most extensive cultivated areas are concentrated in the Lankaran and Astara districts. Lankaran district owns the country's largest tea plantation with an area of 546.2 hectares. The sown area in Astara district was 232.1 hectares, and in Masalli district - 109.5 hectares.

Green tea leaves are harvested from both high-yielding and young tea plantations.
