November 17, Fineko/abc.az. Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani met with Vagit Alekperov, one of the main shareholders of Russia's Lukoil company.

ABC.AZ informs, citing the Prime Minister's office, that the talks took place during a meeting held in Iraq and were aimed to discuss solutions and mechanisms that would ensure stable oil production.

During the meeting, the parties discussed LUKOIL's solutions to maintain stable oil production following measures imposed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which have affected the implementation of the company's investment contracts. They also reviewed issues related to stabilizing oil supply to the market and ensuring that LUKOIL's production at the West Qurna-2 field - approx. 480,000 b/d - continues to contribute to Iraq's overall oil output.

The PM emphasized Iraq's commitment to maintaining stable oil production volumes and supporting stability in the global oil market.

On October 22, the U.S. Treasury Department included Rosneft, Lukoil and 34 subsidiaries of these companies in a new package of U.S. sanctions. As White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt stated at a regular briefing for journalists, Washington expects that these restrictions will put significant pressure on Moscow in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
