November 18, Fineko/abc.az. Syria imported substantial amounts of black gold from Saudi Arabia for the first time in a long time. Tanker PETALIDI docked in the Syrian port of Banias, bringing 90,000 tons of raw materials.

ABC.AZ reports that this delivery is part of the gratuitous aid that Saudi Arabia is providing to Syria. According to Syrian news agency SANA, the purpose of such support is to help with the needs of the Syrian market and establish cooperation between the economies of the two countries.

According to a representative of the Syrian Oil Company, this is just the beginning. As part of the first batch, the Saudis supplied 650,000 barrels to the Syrians, and the next one will be even more - close to 1 million barrels of oil should arrive in a few days. All this oil is planned to be processed at a local refinery in Banias.

As part of the earlier agreement, the Saudis pledged to supply about 1.65 million barrels of crude oil to the Syrians.
