November 18, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan considers the development of transport and logistics links as one of the key elements of its economic strategy, ABC.AZ informs, quoting the executive director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications Vusal Gasimli, as saying this at the First Forum of Azerbaijani-American Think Tanks.

He added that the country is increasing investments in infrastructure to strengthen its role on regional and international transport routes.

"Azerbaijan invests heavily in the development of relations. In particular, the Baku International Sea Trade Port is today the largest port on the Caspian coast with capacity of nearly 15 million tons. Last year, President Ilham Aliyev instructed to increase its capacity to 25 million tons per year," Gasimli stressed.

He added that the expansion of the port and the development of transport corridors will allow Azerbaijan to strengthen its position as a major transit hub, create new opportunities for trade and investment in the region.
