December 9, Fineko/abc.az. U.S. President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 5% tariff on Mexico, accusing it of violating a water treaty and owing more than 800,000 acre-feet of water.

ABC.AZ informs that the head of the White House demanded that Mexico immediately release 200,000 acre-feet by the end of December, otherwise the tariff will take effect.

According to the U.S., Mexico has been defaulting on its obligations under the 1944 treaty for five years, which has angered American farmers.

Earlier, Trump had already imposed a 25% duty on Mexican imports, making exceptions for goods under the USMCA.
