December 11, Fineko/abc.az. Since many sections of pipelines run parallel to high-voltage power lines, the electrical impact of these lines increases the risk of damage to the pipes.
ABC.AZ informs that David Beshitadze, corrosion & materials engineer at BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Ltd, made this statement at the Asset Integrity, Corrosion & Coatings Conference 2025 in Baku.
He added that BP is taking a rangeof preventive measures to reduce these risks.
"We are taking various preventive measures to ensure safer operation of pipelines. They include protection systems powered by renewable energy sources, special devices that attenuate electrical effects, digital control platforms that allow you to monitor the condition of the pipeline in real time, as well as display dangerous points along the route," he said.
According to Beshitadze, these measures significantly reduce the impact of power lines on pipelines, minimize the likelihood of damage to pipes and create conditions for their long-term and reliable operation.
"Currently, these preventive measures are being applied in stages on the main pipelines located on the territory of Azerbaijan," he emphasized.
