December 12, Fineko/abc.az. In 10 months of this year, Azerbaijan imported 128,608 live sheep for $14.9 million.

ABC.AZ informs with reference to the State Statistics Committee that imports of live sheep from Russia increased sharply against Jan-Oct 2024.

The increase was $13.7 million or 12.3-fold in value and 116,778 heads in quantity (10.9-fold).

Over Jan-Oct 2024, 11,830 live sheep were imported from Russia for $1.212 million.

In the first 10 months of 2025, the average price of sheep imported from Russia was $116 (approx. 197 manats). And for the same period in 2024, this figure reached $102.5 (around 174 manats). This means an increase of $13.5 (23 manats) or 13.2% year-on-year.

As a result of this sharp increase, Russia's share in live sheep imports from Azerbaijan grew from an insignificant level last year to 44.5% this year and 47.5% in value terms, and the country became the 2nd largest supplier.
