December 23, Fineko/abc.az. Laos has received permission to supply durian to China, competing with Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia.

ABC.AZ reports that in 2024, China imported 15.6 million tons of durian for $6.99 billion, with the bulk of supplies coming from Thailand and Vietnam. Laos is improving the yield and quality of fruits: now 10,000 trees produce around 3,000 tons of durian a year, by 2029 production is to increase up to 24,300 tons for $155.5 million. Laos intends to export 400 tons of durians to China in 2026.
