Deputy Labour Minister: Unemployment rate among young people in Azerbaijan is twice as high as average

October 30, Fineko/abc.az. The matter of employment of the population, including among young people, is one of the priorities of Azerbaijan’s social policy.

During the presentation of the AMAL Project (Agricultural Employment Increase Project) Idris Isayev, Deputy Minister of Labour & Social Protection of Azerbaijan, stated that young people make up almost 25% of the country's population.

"As in the whole world, youth employment is a priority question and in 2017 alone the youth unemployment rate exceeded the average indicator two-fold and reached 9.2%. Taking into account demographic trends, the government is taking various measures aimed at reducing this indicator by the method of various employment and self-employment programs," the deputy minister said.
