Swiss State Secretary was impressed with Holcim project

October 31, Fineko/abc.az. On October 30, 2018, Mr. Mauro Dell'Ambrogio, the State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation of the Swiss Confederation, visited  Training & Consulting and Information Centre  which is called as Holcim Academy in the framework of his visit to Azerbaijan. Along with the Swiss official, the Ambassador of Switzerland, board of directors of Holcim Azerbaijan, and other quests attended the meeting.

The uniqueness of the centre is  creating opportunity for masters in construction sector to increase their profits by increasing professionalism and by using of innovative technologies. Along with education, one of the main advantages of the academy is providing practical information about products application of new construction materials. In addition, people who want to become a plasterer, bricklayer occupation can participate in free trainings and seminars at the centre and gain a new profession that will have a positive impact to decrease unemployment rate. Most importantly, participants can choose from list of curriculum as well as offer a new topic that interests them.

Alexander Potaenko, Head of the Holcim Academy, informed the guests about the activities of the centre and said: "Our Academy's activity is at an early stage and we already developed  program for the next five years. Anyone who wants to engage in plaster and finished concrete materials can benefit from our centre regardless of their experience. The daily use of proposed technological equipment in cement application significantly increases the productivity and quality of the masons’ work”

Frederic Guimbal, General Director of Holcim Azerbaijan said that the construction sector in Azerbaijan is developing rapidly but there is not due attention to the occupational health and safety and vocational education. He said: “Zero harm and zero incident  are the foundation of Holcim's culture, and we are not tolerating any violation in this area. For that reason OH&S is part of the master's curriculum”.
