February 11, Fineko/abc.az. On average, the Agency for Innovations & Digital Development (IRIA) supports the creation of 250-300 new startups annually.
ABC.AZ reports that Jamal Aghayev, the head of the IRIA Startup Ecosystem Support Department, said this at a forum in Baku.
"Around 10-15% of them start full-fledged activities after a certain time. Startups that stay in the market adapt very well to the local market. At the same time, cooperation with a startup or a team operating in Azerbaijan opens up important opportunities to enter not only our market, but also the Central Asian market, since Azerbaijani startup teams have wide presence of specialists who are fluent in English, Turkish and Russian. This makes it possible to conduct operations more efficiently, and also facilitates adaptation to the market and culture. By cooperating with Azerbaijani startups, Turkish companies can more easily enter markets such as Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Currently, a number of our startups have already taken serious positions in the markets of these countries."
