March 10, Fineko/abc.az. The introduction of new articles to the Constitution of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, concerning the powers of the Supreme Mejlis and the Cabinet of Ministers of the People's Republic of Azerbaijan has been approved.

ABC.AZ reports that in this regard, President Ilham Aliyev signed the Constitutional Law "On Approval of Amendments to the Constitution of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic".

The document provides for the introduction of two new articles - 3-1 and 28-1 - into the Constitution of Nakhchivan, the deletion of article 5, as well as amendments to a number of other articles and the Preamble.

According to the previous version of the Nakhchivan Constitution, the Preamble stated that the foundations of Nakhchivan's autonomy were fixed by international treaties - the Moscow Treaty of March 16, 1921 and the Kars Treaty of October 13, 1921.

The new version notes that the NAR is an integral part of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Thus, references to treaties are excluded from the Nakhchivan Constitution.
