March 12, Fineko/abc.az. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has announced his country's strategic goals for opening transport communications and restoring economic ties with Azerbaijan.

ABC.AZ informs that the head of government said that the proposals presented were not aimed at postponing the Washington agreements.

He noted that expectations of Armenia and Azerbaijan, regarding the restoration of railway communication, do not contradict each other: "Just as Azerbaijan expects to create a crossing from the territory of Armenia to Nakhchivan, we are waiting for establishment of a railway connection between the south and north of Armenia from the territory of Nakhchivan. Due to the geographical conditions, there is no alternative to this route for us. We’ll also use the Georgia-Azerbaijan railway for exports, and I hope Azerbaijan itself will become an important export point for Armenia in the near future.”

Pashinyan stressed that real results have already been achieved in the economic sphere: "Armenia's import of petroleum products from Azerbaijan led to a drop in prices at the domestic market and destroyed the monopoly that had existed for decades. I thank the Georgian PM for establishing railway links in the region and supporting the peace process in general.”
