BMW's operating profit in 2025 drops to its lowest level since start of pandemic

March 12, Fineko/abc.az. In 2025, BMW's operating profit decreased by 11.5% to €10.2 bn, net profit by 3% (€7.5 bn), and earnings by 6.3% (€133.5 bn). The biggest pressure was on the automotive segment, where margin EBIT was 5.3%, well below the target range of 8-10%.

ABC.AZ reports that the reduction was influenced by tariffs, including U.S. and EU duties on electric vehicles Mini, which lowered profitability by around 1.5 percentage points. Without duties, BMW's profits could have grown, chief financial officer Walter Mertl noted.

A total of 2.46 million vehicles were delivered worldwide (0.5% more than last year). Sales in Europe and the U.S. increased, while in China they fell more than by 12% because of competition. Sales of electric vehicles totaled 640,000 cars (26% of the total), including 18% of all-electric models. The BMW M division has delivered more than 213,000 sports cars.

For 2026, the company forecasts an EBIT margin of 4-6% in the auto segment, expecting a moderate decline in group profits because of duties.
