March 13, Fineko/abc.az. The number of transactions conducted through the 7/24 instant payment system, one of the most modern components of the national payment system, increased 12.5-fold compared to 2024, and their volume grew by 90.1%.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, that expansion of the use of the instant payment system has been identified as one of the key priorities within the Financial Sector Development Strategy 2024-26.

One of the steps in this direction was the entry into force in 2025 of the Requirements for the AZQR code used for conducting payment transactions by means of a QR code in the territory of Azerbaijan, approved by the decision of the Board of the Central Bank.

The document sets out the minimum requirements for the formation and format of AZQR code, as well as for the fields included in it.

At the same time, the number of QR payments made through the instant payment system in the 2nd half of 2025 increased 6.2-foldtimes compared to the 1st half of the year, and their volume grew 7.1-fold.
