Azerbaijan cargo terminal in Iranian Astara to be ready in early 2020

December 26, Fineko/abc.az. Economy Minister Shahin Mustafayev of Azerbaijan and Minister of Roads & Urban Development Mohammed Eslami of Iran, who are co-chairing in the Azerbaijan-Iran Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Trade & Humanitarian Spheres, have got acquainted with the process of construction of the Astara cargo terminal.

The Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy informs that the co-chairs also familiarized themselves with the territory where a new bridge across the Astarachay River will be built.

"The Astara cargo terminal covers an area of 35 hectares and the work is carried out in two stages. The first stage work has already been completed. In particular, construction of a railway line with length of 1,400 m between the bridges across Astarachay and Kemerbendi has been finished and a road with length of 1.44 km in direction of Ardebil and Rasht has been put into operation. Also, 90% of land works on the territory of the terminal with an area of 10 hectares, 85% of construction works on the water channel and other works have been completed. It is planned to finish construction of the terminal before the end of Q1 of 2020," the MoE said in a statement.
