January 14, Fineko/abc.az. Catarina Bjorlin Hansen has been appointed as the new regional director of the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD) for the South Caucasus.

The Baku-based EBRD office reports that the new director will start its work in Tbilisi from April 2019. Ms. Hansen will replace on this position Bruno Balvaner, who was appointed the EBRD managing director for Central Asia.

Ms. Hansen joined the EBRD in 2006 and was initially responsible for Bank's municipal infrastructure activity in Central Asia, South Caucasus, Belarus and Moldova. In 2016, she was appointed deputy director for Egypt.

To date, the EBRD has invested EUR 7.77 billion in 564 projects implemented in the region.
