President Ilham Aliyev: Minimum wage and pensions to be re-increased

15:50 - 25.02.2019

February 25, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held a special meeting where he stated that the minimum wage and pensions will be increased again.

According to the head of state, the minimum wage has been increased by 38%, from 130 manats to 180 manats.

"The increase will cover 600,000 people, but this does not mean that we are satisfied with this figure. So, tasks have been given to develop new proposals for raising the minimum wage. Now, we have to assess the financial burden of this decision. Of course, in the future the minimum wage and pensions will be increased in turn," the President said.

He pointed out that the decision to increase the minimum pension by 38% from 116 manats to 160 manats raised Azerbaijan to the second place in this indicator among the CIS countries and covered 223,000 pensioners.

"This is not the end and, of course, the increase of salaries and pensions is the main issue on agenda," President Aliyev said.
