OIC extraordinary summit on Jerusalem matter begins in Istanbul

December 13, Fineko/abc.az. The extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) on the Jerusalem question has started in Istanbul.

The Azerbaijani president is participating in the event.

The summit discusses the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump on the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, the situation in connection with this decision, and the work to be done by the OIC on the occasion.

The meeting involves representatives of 48 of the 57 OIC member countries. Among them are Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalif al-Thani, Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, and Palestine’s head Mahmoud Abbas. A number of countries are represented at the summit by speakers of parliaments, foreign ministers and other ministers.

A resolution will be adopted in conclusion of the meeting. A press conference of the leaders is expected at the end of the summit.
