October 28, Fineko/abc.az. A large number of young families cannot apply for social housing and subsidized mortgages, as they are not covered by the subsidized housing category. In this context, the questions on how to determine the social housing ownership right and subsidized mortgages are under discussion. And this does not allow some young families who do not have housing to take advantage of those benefits.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant statement was made by expert economist Vugar Bayramov, the head of the Center for Economic & Social Development.

He pointed out that the study of the organization he heads shows that it is necessary to revise and change the list of groups included in the social housing category. The economist justifies it this way: "So, there are shortcomings when making the social housing list. For example, according to the rules, a person who is in the civil service, including special types of civil service, can apply for subsidized social housing in at least 3 years. A person who works as a teacher in a state secondary school receives this right only in 5 years of his job. This means that under the current rules, the official is entitled to social apartment or subsidized mortgage in 3 years, and the teacher in 5 years. It is interesting, by what criteria the term of 3 years for officials and 5 years for teachers is established? Is a teacher less useful to the society than an official? The Center proposes to reduce the right to benefits for teachers to 1 year and give them the right to receive subsidized social housing as soon as possible."
