2nd phase of TANAP to be launched on 30 November

November 18, Fineko/abc.az. The 2nd phase of pipeline TANAP will be launched on 30 November.

The statement was made by Fatih Donmez, the Minister of Energy & Natural Resources of Turkey.

He noted that the projects implemented with the participation of Turkey play an important role in the energy security of Europe. TANAP is also one of these projects. Opening of the 2nd phase of the pipeline is scheduled for 30 November.

The main segment of Southern Gas Corridor, TANAP pipeline, has been brought into readiness for the transportation of Azerbaijani natural gas to Europe since 1 July 2019. On 12 June 2018 TANAP gas pipeline was put into operation in the Turkish city of Eskiseher. Transportation of the first gas to Turkey began on 30 June of the same year, as it was planned.

This year the pipeline carried up to 1.8 bn cu m of gas. To date, Turkey has purchased more than 3 bn cu m of Azerbaijan's natural gas through TANAP. By the end of this year this volume will reach 4 bn cu m. The existing capacity of the pipeline is currently 16 bn cu m, and in the future it is planned to increase it up to 31 bn cu m.
