Culture & Tourism Minister Abulfaz Garayev has stated that the country is able to accept 3-3.5 million tourists annually.

Minister Garayev stated that this figure could be increased due to the change of the directions of tourism promotion in the country.

"The goal of development of tourism business over the previous years was in the formation of high standards of luxury tourism, as the country mainly depended on energy processes and infrastructure of this industry dictated that mainly businessmen came to Azerbaijan. Therefore, five-star hotels appeared in Azerbaijan. Currently, country’s economic interests dictate quite other realities, so we are gradually transitioning to more mass tourism," the minister emphasized.

He added that certain work should be done for that - infrastructure must be developed in other way, while services and products should be made more affordable.
