January 27, Fineko/abc.az. Over the past year the number of Azerbaijani citizens traveling abroad increased by 13.4% (against 2018) up to 5.567 million people.

ABC.AZ reports that according to State Statistics Committee, 36.7% of country's citizens went to Iran, 28.9% to Georgia, 17.6% to the Russian Federation, 11.4% to Turkey, and 5.4% to other countries. Men made up 64.1% and women 35.9% of the travelers.

During this period the rate of the Azerbaijani citizens traveling to Iran increased by 23.7%, to Georgia by 12.3%, to Russia by 5.7%, and to Turkey by 4.6%. Last year 82.6% of the Azerbaijani citizens travelled to foreign countries by rail and road, 16.7% by air, and 0.7% by water.
