38 tons of fruits harvested on forested areas of Azerbaijan

February 5, Fineko/abc.az. Last year, the Forest Development Department of the Ministry of Ecology & Natural Resources served 60,400 hectares of Azerbaijan’s Forest Fund, including 14,000 hectares of forest cultivation activities.

ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee that new forest trees were planted on an area of 1,500 hectares, including seeds of fruit, tree and shrub species were sown on an area of 12 hectares, and assistance was provided in the natural restoration of forests on an area of 12,500 hectares. In addition, one-time irrigation works were carried out on 61,700 hectares of forest lands.

In general, last year 38.1 tons of fruit, tree and shrub seeds were harvested on forested areas, including 7.1 tons of walnuts, 0.4 tons of apricots, 0.4 tons of peach, 26.6 tons of oak, and 2.8 tons of other tree and shrub seeds.
