Dental services not to be included in compulsory health insurance system

February 14, Fineko/abc.az. A list of medical services not included in the compulsory health insurance system has been unveiled.

Among the services not included in the CHIS are examination and treatment of mental disorders, AIDS, organ transplantation, outpatient medication, cosmetic procedures and plastic surgery, diabetes mellitus, thalassemia, dialysis, and dental services.

ABC.AZ reports that the relevant statement was made by Shukur Eyvazov, the head of the Department for Work with Regional Centers of the State Agency for Mandatory Medical Insurance, at event "Raising awareness about mandatory medical insurance" for the member companies of the Azerbaijani-French Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

He noted that the Agency is working over a flexible mechanism and it is possible that these services will also be provided in the coming years.

According to Eyvazov, the services will relate mainly to diseases, funded within the framework of the state program.

"Within the framework of the CHIS launched throughout the country from 1 January 2020, 27% of the country's population will initially use medical services. At the final stage, the introduction of medical services within the framework of compulsory medical insurance will begin in Baku and Sumgait, and thus the coverage of the MHI system will reach 100%."
