January 11, Fineko/abc.az. The Cabinet Ministers held a meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev and dedicated to country’s socio-economic development in 2017 and the upcoming challenges.

During the meeting the country’s leader stated that 221,000 new jobs, including 177,000 permanent ones, were opened.

"I believe this is a record index on the number of jobs opened over the last few years. Last year 47,000 jobs were closed, and it is also a natural process. At the same time, we must conduct serious analysis and see for what reasons those jobs were closed. In addition, opening of 177,000 permanent jobs and closure of 47,000 jobs provides positive balance, creating thus a possibility of maintaining unemployment at a low level," the head of state said.

He pointed out that following 2017 unemployment is at the level of 5% and poverty 5.4% in the country and this is one of the best results in the world.
