May 20, Fineko/abc.az. The United States allocated about $3.6 million in medical and humanitarian aid to Azerbaijan to fight the coronavirus.
ABC.AZ informs that the above-said statement was made in the message of the US State Department, distributed on 19 May.
Out of the total amount, $3 million was allocated for medical services, development of laboratory systems, strengthening disease detection and epidemic control, support for timely response and training of technical personnel, support for risk awareness, etc.
The remaining $565,000 is directed for humanitarian assistance to the poor population during the pandemic.
Earlier it was reported that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) allocated $1.7 million in medical assistance to Azerbaijan to fight the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Over the past 20 years the U.S. has invested more than $890 million in Azerbaijan, including about $41 million in healthcare.
A range of important decisions were taken in the direction of strengthening social protection of the population, related to increasing wages, labor pensions, social benefits and pensions, in particular, social benefits of the low-income class.
